SEPT. 20TH EVENING UPDATE

Evening all,

I've just uploaded the training toss results from earlier today.

Rick took them closer to the lake but the same distance - approximately 50kms.  I used the Centennial Race Station as the location for the toss as it's set as 50kms.

Rest day planned for tomorrow.

The aim is to take them the other side of the lake perhaps on Friday - dependent upon weather of course.

Have a great one!

SEPT. 20TH MORNING UPDATE

Good morning everyone,

I've just uploaded the results from yesterday's training toss.

The 1st bird was actually returning from an older toss and wasn't brought to the release point from yesterday.

So please count this bird as inventory only.

Thanks

SEPT. 19TH UPDATE

Evening all

i returned home very late this evening and figured rather than head out to the coop now, I'll go out in the morning and upload today's training toss then.

Rick let me know that the clock has about 305 birds in it.  He released the birds at 10:10am from 50kms.  He said the birds beat him home.

Sorry for the delay - long day.

Thanks for understanding,

Jeane (aka "The 1st Pigeon Lady")

SEPT. 18TH UPDATE

Hi everyone

I've posted a new training toss from today (Sunday).  Some of the birds decided not to come home with the big group - not sure what kept them behind.  They did end up coming home a little later though.

Hope you had a great weekend!

SEPT 15TH UPDATE

Good morning everyone

I've posted the results from yesterday's training toss - it's now closed.  I have a couple of videos of this return home from yesterday that I will post later on today as well.

Rick took the birds again this morning and had a great return - that was also caught on video.  I will post those videos later as well for you to see.  2 of our scanning pads were unplugged unfortunately and some of the birds didn't properly clock.  Rick managed to get these birds that didn't scan to scan though - they're just later than the rest.  Sorry about that.  I will post those results this afternoon for your reference.

Plan for the weekend:  Rick is debating on another training tomorrow - but if not then he'll be aiming for a 65kms release around the lake on Sunday or Monday from Clappison's Corner station.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks

SEPT 14TH UPDATE

Hi everyone,

I had some computer issues this morning as I pulled over the training results from yesterday and the first 12 that clocked are not showing up - but they indeed did clock.

I'll see if I can manually update this - but no promises.

Rick took the birds for another toss this morning and I will see what I can do to upload them today for you.

From yesterday's toss, Rick was very happy with the birds' performance - as they actually beat him home.

Stay tuned for what transpires today :)

Thanks,
Jeane (aka "The 1st Pigeon Lady")

TUES. SEPT. 12TH UPDATE

Hi there

Just letting you know that there is a new training toss from yesterday that is now posted under the TRAINERS tab.  He took them 40km but I've listed the race station as a 35km station.

No training today as it was raining but Rick still had them loft fly.  They flew in the rain for about 30 mins.

The plan is for another training toss tomorrow where he'll shoot for 40-50km.

Watch for updates this weekend for tentative race dates and prize amounts!

Thanks

SUNDAY SEPT. 10TH UPDATE

Evening all,

There's a new training toss up from yesterday.  Sorry for the delay - soccer tournament weekend!

Rick brought the birds 30kms yesterday morning and released them at 7am.  The weather yesterday morning was clear when he released the birds but the weather changed for the rest of the day and became cloudy and rainy.

A few stragglers arrived up front and then a big group came home.  They did all stuck together (more than 200 in a group) and flew together for over an hour.

He plans to train them again 30-50km tomorrow morning...of course dependent on weather.

Thanks

SEPT. 7TH UPDATE

Good evening everyone,

Rick let the birds out from just over 20kms this morning at 8:15am.  I've listed it as a 20km race station in the TRAINERS tab.

You'll notice that one bird clocked at 8:15 - and this bird was not at the release point.  this bird did not come home after the last toss - but decided to join the crew today.  Just FYI.

Tomorrow looks like a rest day for the birds.  Saturday morning the plan is to take them 40-50kms for a toss.

Have a great night,

Jeane (aka "The 1st Pigeon Lady")

SEPT 5TH UPDATE - 20KMS TRAINING TOSS

Evening pigeon fanciers,

Early this morning Rick let the birds out for a slightly longer training toss from 20kms away.  He released the birds about 7:20am.  I've now posted the results online under the TRAINERS tab in wincompanion.

It was an incredibly hot day today, that seems to be an understatement.  Rick let them out as early as he could due to the heat, but it was still humid even early at that time.

The birds came home, not quite as the large group coming fairly together, but they still came home.  We're down a few birds, the clock has 311 on it as of 7:30pm tonight.  We'll see if some more come home perhaps when it's cooler in the early morning.

Have a great night,

Jeane (aka "The 1st Pigeon Lady")
