AUG. 31ST TRAINING TOSS - OVER 50KMS

Good morning everyone

The birds were up around 8am this morning from about a mile from Clappison's Corner - above 50kms.

Rick did catch a video of their release and I will post it later for you.

So far, he's let me know that there are over 240 birds in the clock - this will be posted later for you on wincompanion.

Have a great Wednesday everyone,

AUG. 30TH UPDATE

Good evening everyone,

No training today - the rain was all over us today.  Rick had the birds out for a good hour loft fly this afternoon from about 4:30-5:30 when the sun finally came out.

Plan for a training toss tomorrow as long as the weather is ok.  He is looking at releasing them from Clappison's Corner which is over 50kms away.

Cross our fingers the weather cooperates!

Rick let me know the birds enjoyed a bath in the rain while they were in their aviaries during the day.

Have a great night,

Jeane (aka "The 1st Pigeon Lady")

SUN. AUG. 28TH EVENING UPDATE

Evening flyers,

Just finished posting the results of the training toss today.  There's 260 birds clocked in.  Interestingly enough, 3 of those birds were missing in our stats.  So they've decided to rejoin the race.

If you look down the right side of the results listing, you'll notice the "Missing" piece and see who's decided to come back.

The birds had a loft fly tonight, and as I'm writing this, another bird has just come home.  I will update the results list momentarily...always an interesting life, this pigeon racing is :)

I'll keep you posted as the race schedule, which is very tentative but a little more "solid"...I will upload here on the UPDATES page this week...as well as the payouts.

Thanks!

AUG. 27TH UPDATE - EVENING

Evening flyers,

Just FYI - more birds came home today, from the training toss, and from another day...as we're higher in bird count than we've been for a few days now.

The clock sits at 260 - a few more birds decided to make their way back this evening.

I'll keep the clock running until the am - then I believe Rick is going to try another toss in the morning.  I'll keep you posted!

Thanks,

SAT. AUG. 27TH TRAINING TOSS HAMILTON

Morning everyone

Rick released the birds from Hamilton this morning around 8:15am from a spot near the Hamilton Clubhouse.

The birds came home in a couple of groups - the first being just before 9am.

The distance of this race is between 40-50km, so I listed it under my 40km distance in wincompanion.

If you look at the results, under TRAINERS, you'll notice one bird showed up before 8am...(a really fast one lol), obviously returning from a previous trip outside the loft.  So technically there's 257 birds in the coop, and we'll keep it running today to see if another few return.

Have a great weekend,

Jeane (aka "The 1st Pigeon Lady")

FRI. AUG. 26 LOFT FLY

Good evening flyers

Rick decided on a loft fly this morning as there was spots of rain throughout the morning.  The birds actually flew in some light rain and some decided to stay flying out in the rain for quite some time.

Plan for tomorrow is a 40km training toss in the morning.

Stay tuned!

THURS. AUG. 25TH TRAINING TOSS 40KM

Good morning everyone,

A little tardy on the upload of the results from the 40km training toss yesterday, my apologies.

You'll note I used the 35km tracking spot in wincompanion as this 40km is an approximate distance.

259 birds have clocked in.

Plan for today was another toss - but it is calling for rain, and we're currently surrounded by rain.  Rick hopes to get them released for a good toss tomorrow morning if weather permits.

Happy Friday everyone, see you soon!

AUG. 22ND TRAINING TOSS

Good morning everyone

Rick was able to get the birds out for a ...20-25km as the weather looked to be "clear" for about an hour.

He released them around 8:45 released and they clocked in around 9:15am.

Rick made it home as they were arriving - and he noted that they came home in a group with a few scattered ones after.

As it sits at 11:10am, there are 259 out of 262 in the clock. They trapped fairly quickly.

I will upload the results when I get home from work later this afternoon.

Have a great day everyone,

Jeane (aka "The 1st Pigeon Lady")

20KM - TRAINING TOSS - CROSS YOUR FINGERS

So the weather is not looking great for the morning, but we still pushed ahead with a hand basketing...finished and posted now.  There are 262 birds ready for a fly.

Rick is hoping to get a 20km toss in tomorrow morning (Monday) but not 100% sure that'll happen with the rain.

I'll keep you posted as to what transpires in the morning.

Cross your fingers!

POSTPONE TRAINING TOSS

So there was downpours last night with crazy thunder and lightning when Rick went to basket the birds - the rain was unbelievable and the hydro was flickering on and off.  Not a great idea to put the birds through that.

Our aim now, since there's rain the forecast all day, is to do a Hand scan tonight and do a Live to say hi while in the process.

Hope to see you on Facebook later this evening!
