Good morning everyone,
We hope you are all staying safe and healthy as it's a different world around here, with Ontario's new stay at home emergency order.
Rick is still working diligently on the coop - me, I'm working long hours at the hospital, so I'm not being a very good photographer/videographer at this point to update you on the coop's status... :(
We wanted to remind you of the drop off dates for this year's race:
April 23rd, 2021 until May 24th, 2021
Rick and I have had some great comments and questions about the race, and we'll anticipating this will be our best race year yet!
Please connect with us to let us know if you'd like to reserve some perch spots, send us a message on Facebook, Instagram, or throw us an email at

Rick has 10 birds from last years race that he is going to do electronic tracking with. Results of the tracking will be posted with our training information as able. We've been wanting to do this for a couple of years, and now are finally able to!
We have updated our website with all the new information for our 5th Annual Race.
Drop off dates will be from Friday, April 23rd, 2021 to Monday, May 24th, 2021
Please connect with us to reserve your spot.
Have a great weekend,
Jeane aka. "The 1st Pigeon Lady"
Good morning everyone!
We are hoping you are staying safe and healthy in these crazy times. As many of you know, Ontario is in provincial lockdown and things are very different here.
We made it through Christmas with minimal contacts with family and friends, but now, it's pretty isolated.
Rick and I stay busy, him with the farm and kids, and me with work at the hospital.
I figured we would make a quick post here to let you know we are excited for 2021 - hoping that the year will bring so much happiness and FUN back to our lives!
We have opened the registration for the 2021 race! Please connect with us if you wish to reserve your spot.
Rick is still working diligently on the coop - the roof takes quite a bit of time (and money!) so he's working on getting that done...I will post some more pictures soon to our Instagram and Facebook pages.
We hope you have wonderful New Year's Eve with your families and friends as able. It will be quiet here, but thankful for our health!
Keep in touch! And ask any questions to us if needed!
Thanks,Jeane aka "The 1st Pigeon Lady" & Rick
We figured we would touch base and say hello, give a few updates to you all.
Rick is underway with the expansion of the coop. Check out our Instagram and Facebook pages for some pictures and videos of the new digs.
The new coop will be able to house up to 1400 birds, and we are going to aim for 1000 birds for the 5th annual OLR next year.
Stay tuned for our flyer that Rick is working on (with me of course) 👍
Hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather - if you were in our parts of Ontario!
Jeane (& Rick)
Good afternoon everyone
Long time no write on here! We've been enjoying what sun we have left, but I definitely got the winter coat out this morning on my way to work!
Rick wanted me to pass on to you all that he will be at Ryan Zonnekeyn's house tomorrow around 1pm. Any birds that you would like him to bring - last chance to let us know.
He will be leaving here mid-morning so please let us know tonight, or by 8am tomorrow morning (Saturday) so he can pack the birds up to bring with him.
2651 Bloomington Road, Gormley, ON
Still working on that flyer for 2021...but it's coming.
Jeane (aka. "The 1st Pigeon Lady")
The weather is cool - broke out the winter coat last night :(...but still some sunshine - so I'm ok.
Pick ups are going well for the birds, thank you to everyone who has connected with us regarding this.
Rick is offering out Thursday and Friday this week (Oct. 8th and Oct. 9th) from 11am until 2pm for pick ups. Please let us know if you're coming, as we can have your birds ready for you.
Payments are almost 100% completed! I believe this might be a record for OLR payouts! Thanks to everyone for responding quickly to my emails to arrange this. We are trying to stay atop of this important piece to our OLR and strive to make this the best experience for all!
Thanks to everyone for a great year - and stay tuned for next year's flyer - I'm working on it as we speak, and plan to post it soon on our social media and website!
Have a great day,
I've just been told that I made an error (yes it does happen...) about Al Gauvin's assistance with picking up birds.
He is actually coming on Sunday, Oct. 4th this weekend.
Please let us know if you'd like Al to pick your birds up and meet you in Woodstock to get them.
Thanks to all,
I had a great offer from Al Gauvin. If anyone is unable to make it to our place this week - but would be able to make it to Woodstock - Al is offering to pick up your birds from Rick's and take them to Woodstock.
Al is planning to come to pick his own birds up on Saturday this weekend. Please let us know if you'd like him to get your's as well - and Rick and I will ensure he gets them.
Thanks to Al for his offer!
Good afternoon all,
Still some sunshine going on in Niagara - hoping it stays, but I hear rumour that the temperature is going to drop starting tomorrow. Oh well...October is almost here.
We wanted to announce another pick up time, besides Thursday, Oct. 1st from 11am to 2pm. Rick will also be avaiable for bird pick up on Sun. Oct. 4th from 10am to 12 noon.
Feel free to connect with us if you have any questions.
Thanks - and have a great one,
Well the clock has officially stopped on the one loft race - and we're now "closed" for the year.
We had 170 clock in from the 216 we sent. Not too shabby I think. And...we'll probably still see some more as the days go on.
If you don't see a bird, feel free to reach out over the next day or two and we can let you know if it came in after clocking.
Rick has scheduled this coming Tuesday and Thursday (Sept. 29th and Oct. 1st) as pick up dates from 11am until 2pm each day. Feel free to reach out ahead of time if you're coming and he can put your birds specifically aside for quicker pick up.
We've had some great feedback from the race this year, the distance was good, the Facebook Live was well done, and we're now going to plan more videos of the releases as well next year. Rick is also hopeful to complete GPS trackings of the birds during trainings and races next year.
We'll continue to post, althought probably not daily...but to continue updates on picks up and our plans for next year.
Thank you to everyone for a great 4th Annual One Loft Race...and hope to see you all next year (in person!)!!
Rick & Jeane (aka. "The 1st Pigeon Lady")
