News and Updates

Good afternoon

So I've updated the inventory list from yesterday's short basket toss...a few more stragglers came in this morning...4 to be exact.

I will keep the clock going until this evening just to catch any more...and will strike off after this.

They are quiet in the coop today - as the weather has been calling for severe thunderstorms...we haven't seen them yet, but the winds pick up pretty strong once in a while.

Hope everyone is staying's another scorcher here today.

Evening all

So far have 315 through the clock as of 8pm tonight.  Rick had them up after 8am this morning just down the road.  We sent 330.  Rick did note that after he released them, a smaller group went very high up and he's wondering if they decided to take a trip of their own and go exploring (well Rick didn't exactly say it like that - but I make it sound better).

He noted a few later birds tonight, and we are wondering if we might see some more come in the morning.  The weather was very hot and humid, so I guess we wait.

We're going to keep the clock open and I will update it tomorrow on this inventory race so that you can see if your birds are here.

Did a Facebook Live earlier this evening of a quick loft fly - showing the height of the birds when they do go out - not sure how it looked on camera, but hopefully you get the idea.

Please connect with us if you have any questions.

Hope you all have a great night!

Evening all...late night here!

Birds were basketed tonight...did a Facebook Live through some of it.  Birds continue to feel great.  Tried to upload the basket list...however no luck.  The race mode is open though, so when Rick releases them tomorrow morning, they will scan through and I can upload the results then.  Rick is taking the birds just down the road, maybe 1km or so.  We want them to get used to the basketing and the release.

The results will be under the Trainer section in wincompanion.

Every Sunday we will continue to do the inventory as promised.  I will try to improve my videography capabilities - hee hee.

Stay tuned for further updates this week...and I will try and get the height that the birds have been flying on camera for you.

Have a great Monday!  See you soon!

Afternoon folks,

Just posted the results from the "Hand Inventory/Trainer Race" in wincompanion.  I still need to go over the actually basketing list that wouldn't pull through last night and make sure the race matches that.

I will scan the actual basket list and post onto Facebook tomorrow so people can have a look through the list if they wish.

335 have scanned through as of 6;00pm tonight and we will leave the module on for a while to see if more scan through.  Rick has had the birds out today 2 times, so we'll keep an eye on the numbers for you all.

Take a peek at the Facebook Live that I just did - and you can see the actual module and also some of the birds flying outside that hadn't come in yet.

Birds are great - training to officially start next week!

Excitement begins!

Evening everyone

The birds are basketed and Rick will be letting them out for a loft fly tomorrow - as the basket list wouldn't pull through to wincompanion today.  Sorry for the delay - but I'm having issues with wincompanion.  I'll be on the horn to our support in the morning.  Thanks for your patience as we get into the regular routine of scanning them.

There are 338 birds that we manually basketed today.

From the handling today - Rick is really excited for them to train...they handled fantastic.  He said to me that he's very impressed with the quality of the birds that people sent in this year.  Thanks to everyone for great birds to work with!

Watch for tomorrow's clocking from the open race basketing that we did today - it should show through on wincompanion tomorrow.

Tomorrow I will do a Facebook Live to show the race entry list (basketing list) that I have sitting in my hands right now.  This will confirm for you that the inventory was completed...just not uploading as I hoped for.  Every year, I work through this and I apologize for the delays.

Thanks everyone,

Jeane (aka "The 1st Pigeon Lady")

Good evening everyone

Rick and I are doing a hand inventory much later this watch for it tomorrow morning.  Our plan is to do a hand inventory every Sunday each week.  Training as well is getting underway soon!

Posted a few videos of today on Facebook and Instagram - take a peak - the birds look great!

Take a peak...have a great night!

Evening everyone

The one loft birds have been enjoying loft flies this week...all sections out together each day.  The days have been spotty with still a lot of sunshine, but often some showers throughout the day.  This morning, mid morning, we had quite the thunder and lightening storm.

This weekend, we'll do a hand scanned inventory - logged properly, so that you can see the status of the birds.

Monday, Rick will be basketing all of the birds, of course dependent on weather, and he'll let them out in our front yard to get them used to be released, and more practice flying together.

Excited to see this part start!

Have a great night...see you soon!

Good evening everyone

Rick and I made it through our first inventory...a little rough with the upload...and still not 100% correct, but we're on our way to getting things looking clearer.

There are currently 340 listed in wincompanion, however we had 350 banded and 345 actually showed up on the module for clocking.  I've manually listed 3 - these were "unassigned", something that happens when the band number doesn't exactly match what is read in the I've fixed those ones.  2 of Milano Loft birds as well as Brad Wogan's 5th bird are in the coop.

I'm working on listing the ones actually missing - as missing...again, a work in progress!

Rick worked on the inside of the coop today - in the crazy heat.  He finished up the electronic system and made trapping boxes to ensure we capture bands in the module when the birds scan across the pads.  This went better than last year, as we had to do some adjustments to the trapping space, but as you can see, we're still missing a few of the bands in today's inventory.

We'll do another this week - to see how it looks.

Tune into our Facebook page - as I did a Facebook Live tonight to show the new trapping boxes and have a quick chat.

Have a great week everyone,

Jeane (aka "The 1st Pigeon Lady")

Hi flyers

Hopefully you are able to access our Facebook or Instagram pages, as we've posted some great pics of some of the birds tonight from our banding process.

I also posted a couple of videos from Rick calling in the birds from a larger loft fly this afternoon (again on Facebook and Instagram).  I've been having problems uploading pictures and videos directly to the website - apologies on that...I will keep trying to change the gallery so that you can access some newer photos **UPDATE** - just got some pics on the website - they're at the bottom of the Gallery Page...check them out!

Hope everyone is having a great night...see you soon on Facebook Live!

Evening everyone

Well it's been a very rainy week this past week...can always tell since I don't have to water our plants much lately!

The birds did get some squeaked in loft flying time ovee the week, but me, I didn't venture out to the loft much, too soggy for my the pictures and videos lacked this week.  Rick is hoping the weather is better this week for some larger loft flies to happen!

Aiming for a Facebook Live tomorrow evening, where we can say hello and show off the birds a bit.

Hope you all had a great weekend, see you tomorrow!
