Our 360 mile Superbird race will be Saturday, Dec. 11. Our birds will be released with birds from California Classic and the Royal Cup. We already have $17,000 in the prize fund not counting the $100/bird entry fee. If your bird completed the 300 mi. race you can activate it for the Superbird race for $100/bird. I'm guessing we will have @ $25,000 in the prize fund. There will be 8-10 prizes. We also will have a $100 WTA pool if you would like to participate in that as well. We pay all prizes and pools by the drop.
From the 300 mi. Classic Race the average speed prizes were: 1. 6,000 2. 4,000 3. 2,000 4. 1,175 5. 1,000 6. 1,000.
Please send all entries to Steve Miner, 3511 Rolling Hills Ln., Bonita, Ca. 91902. If you have prize money or refund coming I will deduct your Superbird entry from that if you notify me to do so.
The weather looks really good for our race this year. Total sun on the entire course, slight winds across the desert and when they hit the mountains the last 60 miles 8-10 tailwinds. Good luck to all!!!
1. $30,000 2. $10,000 3. $8,000 4. $6,000 5. $4,000 6. $2,000 7. $2,000 8-13 $1,000 14-29 $500
ALL PRIZES AND SPECIAL RACES ARE PAID BY THE DROP.
Today in our 190 mi. race we had 36 on the first drop. $14,500/36 is $402/bird. Congrats to the breeders on the first drop.
Please get entry fee to me ASAP. If you don't think it will get to me before the race Saturday please contact me personally and let me know what you are entering. If you don't pay on time and I haven't talked to you your birds will not be elgible to win prizes. Hopefully that won't be an issue. Good Luck, Steve
The prize fund for tomorrow's 200 mi. race is $14,500 for first drop unless there are less than 4 birds in first drop in which case the prizes are 40-30-20-10. The $$ generated for this fund came from $25/bird from perch fees. There is no deduction for expenses, all money collected is prize money.
This is in the rules for this year. The $100/bird shipped to the 150 is split as $50/bird for avg. speed for 3 races and $50/bird goes into prize fund for 360 mi. Superbird race 2 weeks after the 300 mi. race.
Good luck tomorrow!!!!
Again the weather has changed and tomorrow looks like our best option. There will be some crosswinds however it should be a good race. Good luck to all. Please send in your entry ASAP unless you will be at shipping on Friday.
Right now the weather for Monday does not look very good, 20mi. north winds on desert possibly blowing birds into Mexico which is not good. So we may move the 200 to Tuesday, actually will probably go 180-190 miles because the birds will have only 4 days rest until 300 mi. race on Saturday.
THEREFORE IF YOU ARE NOT COMING TO SAN DIEGO FOR SHIPPING YOU NEED TO PAY $300/BIRD ENTRY ASAP, HOPEFULLY TODAY. PLEASE TRY TO MAIL IT TODAY. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
We are moving our 200 Mi. Race to Monday, Nov. 22. The weather looks a little better for Monday and we will not be overlapping the Royal Cup 200 on Sunday. So those of you that are in San Diego can watch our birds come home from the 200. The prize money for our 200 mi. race will be @ $14,000 for first drop. Good Luck!!
The 200 mi. race will be this Sunday, Nov. 21. The weather isn't really good, 50-60% cloudy most of the race, however all the days this weekend are not great. Hopefully the birds will do good. The $300/bird is due no later than Wed., 11/24 if you are mailing the entry money. If you are attending our race you can pay the entry at shipping on Friday 11/26 at the hotel. Keep in mind Thursday there is no mail and we're shipping birds on Friday.
As a bonus because we are celebrating our 40th Anniversary we are awarding the 40th bird in the trap $1,000.
Birds are up at 6:20, great weather, may get a little hot later in the day. Good luck !!!!
Due to extreme heat in San Diego Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 90 degrees at the loft. We have moved the 150 Race to Monday. We will train them short tomorrow and then Monday race. That will move the 200 mi. race to Saturday or Sunday depending on the weather. Right now Sunday looks like a better day. Good luck to all !!.
