UPDATE ON BIRDS

The birds are doing great, health has been very good this year.  We did a trapping inventory which is on result page.  The older group have had their flights pulled and birds poxed.  They are currently locked up until flights grow out.  The younger group has been out most days however the last few days we have encountered multiple cooper hawks so we have kept birds in.  We will do another clocking inventory as soon as we start letting birds out.  We have received some replacement birds this past week and will continue taking replacement birds for another week.

We have notated all City of Hope birds as COH as their bird name listed under the buyers team.  I will be mailing out a master list of breeders and buyers to all breeders.

We will be waiting until middle of August to determine whether we will host shipping at our hotel due to Covid Virus.

UPDATE ON RACE AND HOTEL

We have just over 550 birds and expect we will end up with @600 birds.  The health has been very good, out exercising most every day.  We will be clipping and pulling the 9th and 10th in a couple weeks unless your bird(s) has arrived in the last couple weeks.  We will be taking a clocking inventory in about a week.  We have notified breeders if they need any replacements thus far.

The hotel, Marriott Courtyard at Liberty Station is currently closed however they are taking reservations that can be canceled up to 3 days prior to reservation date.  We are hoping we will be able to have all the race festivities at our hotel just as it has been in the past.  However we can only go with the directions of the hotel.  Will keep you posted on the status of the hotel.

FYI-this is the 40th anniversary of the San Diego Classic, the longest running one loft race in the country.  We hope to be able to celebrate this occasion.

SD HOLIDAY CLASSIC 2020

This wwill be the 40th anniversary of our race, the longest running one loft race in the country.  We hope to have extra festivities etc. this year.  Unfortunately it looks like the quarantine will not be lifted until middle of May at best case scenario.  Therefore we will once again be picking up birds in Yuma as they are mailed in.  The PO Box # and other info will be forthcoming.  We start accepting birds on March 1.  I would say it would be beneficial to get birds in earlier in the year, by end of April if possible.  The weather in Yuma starts getting 100+ degrees in May as a rule.  We will be accepting birds until June 15.  Any further questions contact Steve Miner, 619-933-8188 or smiinervangruen@aol.com.
