Birds are coming in daily from Yuma, we now have almost 200 birds, everything is looking good. Birds are out of loft almost daily, of course we battle the cooper's and falcons but seems so far so good.
Donnie Miner, brother to Steve, passed away Sunday. He had a history of enphysema and had been on oxygen the past few months. Donnie was a San Diego Club member as a junior member in the 60's and flew in San Diego til he moved to Hayden Idaho in early 2001. He was an avid pigeon man, very knowledgeable in eye sign and pigeons in general. He won the AU Race 6-7 years ago and recently won the San Diego Triple Crown last November. Donnie will be remembered as a person with a heart of gold, would help anybody anytime. God Bless!!

I am sadly reporting one of our long time club members, Wayne Herron, passed yesterday. Wayne had been battling lung problems that made it difficult for him to breathe. Wayne had been a member of the San Diego Homing Pigeon Club since the 1950's, holding many positions and always helping out to make the club better. Wayne was one of the "backbones" of the club handling the property manager's job for many years and being a key voice in any matter that came up.
Wayne is survived by his long time girlfriend Ardis as well as his immediate family, 1 son I believe. The services for Wayne will be announced and I will have the info on this page. Wayne will be truly missed!!
There are 4 counties in Southern California, LA County, San Bernadino County, Riverside County, and Ventura County that are under quarantine for New Castle disease for fowl (birds). We are not accepting any birds from these quarantined areas for our race this year until the quarantine is lifted, if it is lifted. Any questions contact Steve Miner, 619-933-8188 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are now accepting birds for this year's race, March 1-June 15. Birds are vaccinated PMV when arrived, they are poxed after all birds are accepted @ June 20. Please make sure your birds are in good health and eating, drinking on there own before shipping. Good Luck!!
We once again hope to have one of the most successful one loft racces in the country. This will be our 39th year, the longest running one loft race in the country. The rules have not changed, everything the same. You can sign up for our race on Wincompanion.
This year the "San Diego Races" have added 2 more races to our "Greatest Week of Racing in the USA" The Royal Cup, sponsored by Leach Feed will be on the same property as the California Classic and supervised by John Timmmerman. That race will be flown on the first Sunday of the week. The other new race for the week is "The Dehesa Classic", run by Ron Moden who has been very successful along with Dave Dudley in many one loft races. This race will be flown on Thanksgiving Day. Look on their website for details.
