VIDEO: LOFT FLY & UPDATE

MONDAY, 9/11/23 UPDDATE
Dove season started on Friday, September 1,
so we kept the birds on lockdown over the weekend again.
We are 1 mile from the grasslands open hunting spot
and our neighbor allows hunting on his land, just down from us.
Today it was cloudy and drizzly, so we let the birds out to loft fly.
The weather is much cooler from here on out.
Later this week, when the rain lifts, we will go on 1 - 3 miles tosses.
Then next week, the training really gets under way.
Hope everyone is doing well!

VIDEO: LOCKDOWN OVER, BIRDS LOFT FLYING AGAIN

WEDNESDAY, 9/6/23 UPDDATE
Dove season started on Friday, September 1,
so we kept the birds on lockdown through Labor Day.
We had the birds back out loft flying yesterday 9/5  & today 9/6.
We will be taking them a short way down the road starting tomorrow.
The weather is about to crack after months of brutal heat.
We are expected to start having 90s, 80s and even 70s in the next few days!!
We are so ready for that - even some rain is predicted!
So we can really start getting the birds down the road further and further.

8/31 - LONGHORN CLASSIC UPDATE

www.LonghornClassic.com

Happy Labor Day weekend friends!

Did you see the super blue moon? It won't be back for a decade!

Here's the latest:

  1. The weather FINALLY cooled down a bit, hovering around 99 for a few days. Not cool, but cooler - we'll take it.

  2. We've been loading the birds into the trailer daily, and releasing them from the far side of the property & 1/2 mile down the road. On Tuesday we went 1 mile - it was a tough one, with about 50 birds not returning. There is a small valley that the birds went into, so maybe they couldn't see the loft?

  3. We'll continue next week with 1/2 to 1 mile releases in a circle around the loft to familiarize the birds with the area.

  4. We're still ahead of schedule, so still trying to ease the birds into training, to keep their stress levels low.

  5. No hawks to speak of much. One day a red tail came by, but didn't attack the birds & moved on pretty quickly.

Thanks for supporting our race!

Hope you have a fun but relaxing holiday weekend :)
