The Longhorn Classic has been accepting birds for 2 weeks.

In this video, you see the almost 300 birds that have come in during weeks 1 and 2. On Monday, they willl start having open loft daily. This will give breeders a good chance to replace any birds that go missing off the loft.

Hello breeders,

Hope you're all doing well and have lots of promising babies in the loft! 

DOORS OPEN APRIL 1 

Many breeders agree shipping takes an unseen toll on young birds.

Here are our TIPS FOR A GREAT START: 

1. It's optimal to send 45 day old birds, but there is wiggle room.

2. Birds should be eating and drinking well on their own.

3. Ship birds on Monday and Tuesday ONLY!

4. Vaccinate for Roto/PMV at 28 days old, then wait 2 weeks before shipping. Ed Minvielle of Siegel Pigeons (800) 437-4436 sells 50-dose bottles of Roto/PMV vaccine. We will vaccinate the birds upon arrival.

5. Please, no more than 3 birds per box. The boxes already get warm, so best not to add extra heat by overcrowding.

6. Taping boxes together doesn't lower postage, but does make boxes hotter inside by covering some airholes.

7. Lay orange slices flat on bottom of box to provide some moisture.

8. If possible, feed, water & box birds the morning of shipping, not the night before.

9. Use Pirate Ship to save a lot on postage. Its easy to create a free account here.

10. Horizon 12" high boxes are best & hold up to 3 birds:

Tall shape have best air circulation.

Basically the same postage for 1, 2 or 3 birds.

Boxes more than 12" tall COST MUCH MORE to ship.
