We tossed from 2 miles today (Thursday). The birds came home quickly. As usual, some stayed out and played for a while.

We tossed the birds from 1 mile for the final time today. All birds returned quickly. A group stayed out and flew around for a couple hours. Even though some of them came down and looked inside the loft, and were clocked, they still stayed out a long time. Once we get out further this will change.

Our next toss will be from 2 miles. The weather report is showing strong winds tomorrow, so we will have to see.

We had thick fog until aftter 11 a.m. The fog gave way to clear blue skies and 60 degree temps. We tossed the birds from 1 mile again today. They all came home quickly but a large group stayed out and enjoyed the beautiful day. One bird clocked when I called the birds inside for the rest of their feed.

We've had thick clouds and light-to-heavy rain for days. We were still able to loft-fly the birds 2 days. Hopefully we will be able to release the birds from 1 mile the next 2 days. After that, we will release from 2 miles.

We tossed the birds from 1 mile today. We will toss 2 more times from this spot, then release from 2 miles.

The results are posted. The last birds stayed outside and played on the loft and just enjoyed the beautiful day we had. Once I went inside and called them inside for the rest of their food, they came inside.

We tossed the birds from 1/2 mile yesterday and today. That makes 3 tosses from there. The next release will be from 1 mile. We will begin posting the results with this next toss.

The birds have been released 3 times from the trailer to loft-fly. 

Today we loft-flew the birds, then tossed them from 1/2 mile. 

We plan to toss 1/2 mile 2 more times, then move out to 1 mile.

The birds spent 6 days and nights in the shipping crates on the trailer. We separate the sexes and only have 10 birds in each crate. We do this to teach the birds to be comfortable in the crates. Also, it's essential they learn to eat and drink while being in there. 

We're flagging the birds each day. They just finished 2 weeks of respiratory medication. We've released them 2 times from the trailer to do their loft flying.  

We'll toss them from 1/2 mile very soon.

We had zero hawk problems untill after all the birds had been trap-trained and were all semi lofted-in. Before all the birds were up and flying super well, and had full knowledge of the area, is when the problem started. Unfortunately, when they are startled by a hawk attack, the inexperienced birds sometimes fly too far away and become lost. Although the female Cooper has been relocated, the damage has been done. Currently, we are having zero hawk problems and the birds are being flagged each day.

A few of the missing birds are ones that were injured and the owner's were contacted. I know for sure our problem hawk killed 3 of our birds before relocating.

Many of the lost birds can be replaced for free next year.
