SHIPPING & PICK-UP
Hi everyone,

Hopefully everyone is enjoying "spring" so far and watching the birds fly again.
Things are going fine here, health is mostly good to great with a few exceptions. Birds are getting pretty good at trapping, we are getting ready to get them out flying but a lot of days it is pretty windy with most days wind gusts of 25 m/h or more, not ideal for getting them out the first few times.

Shipping birds: Please send them when you can get them here, do not worry about which day it is, we will pick them up but do give us notice the day before. If you need/want birds shipped to the USA you must email us and let us know, those birds must arrive by Friday Apr. 24th.

SHIPPING OF BIRDS

Good morning everyone,

We hope everyone is handling this huge change well and are staying safe. Having pigeons at a time like this makes this the best hobby in the world, you don't have to go out, you can enjoy it right in your own backyard.

Shipping your birds: We advice to do it while possible, try to book it a couple of days ahead and let us know, we will pick up your birds whichever day you can ship them into Ottawa. Shipping could become more difficult but could also get better in 3-4 weeks from now, no one knows.

The first 100 birds are doing fantastic, great appetite and looking sharp.

Our next pick-up from SW Ontario, starting at Chatham is scheduled for April 26th, only 3 weeks away. We can easily settle older youngsters and have no problems with younger ones. On our last pick-up we had many younger birds, less than 30 days old, some even younger and as noted above, those are doing fantastic. Linda loves the babies and looks after them with great care.

We are also hoping to arrange a pick-up run to the East, around Montreal, detail to follow.

We will also do another shipment to the US on Apr. 28th, contact us if you need/want birds shipped to the US at that time.

Wishing everyone all the best, enjoy your birds and stay safe !!

Linda & Oscar

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Hi everyone,

I am sure everyone is aware what is going on in the world at this time. Unfortunately this affects our sport as well, there are questions whether we will race old birds and shipping to OLRs. As of Friday we could still bring birds across the border to the US and we plan on (hope to) bring birds across for the Hoosier Mar. 31 or Apr. 01. (Someone posted that the border did not allow it anymore is not true) However things change daily so there is a possibility that it may close at any time.

With this uncertainty we ask that the US fanciers do not ship birds to Dale at this time. We still have a couple of months to work with and hope it all gets better sooner than later.

We are planning on doing our pick-up as usual Sunday Mar. 29, at this time we will pick up birds for Dutch Touch and possibly the Hoosier race. We will post places and times in the next couple of days.

At this we can not ship to S. Africa nor Thailand but there is still lots of time, for S. Africa near the end of May and Pattaya, Thailand near the end of July.

These are uncertain times and we are lucky to have a hobby at home with pigeons, this gives us something fun to do and keep us sane.

All the best to everyone and stay safe !!

Linda & Oscar

CORONAVIRUS

Hi all,

At this time we can not ship to Thailand or S. Africa as some airlines (ones we use) have put a total embargo on all live animals shipments as of today. Please do not ship any birds to us for these 2 races at this time. We will undate you if there are any changes. With S. Africa we have till the end of May and with Pattaya, Thailand till end July to get birds ship there. Hopefully things will cool down by then and we can still get your birds to these great races.

At this time we still can bring birds to the US but we would have to self isolate for 14 days on return. We will keep everyone posted on developments whether we will do a shipment or not.

Dutch Touch birds are not effected by this at this time.

THE START

Hi everyone,

Next weekend is the start of accepting birds for our 5th season. Keep in mind that the format has changed. Please contact us if you are dropping off or shipping your birds so we are ready for them. For our US friends, please contact Dale Zehr before shipping them to make sure he knows who is shipping and when. His contact information is on our site (at bottom of the rules section) but here it is to make it easy. This also applies to shipping your Pattaya, Thailand birds to him, please give him a heads up and clearly mark things on the box or letter in the box.

Dale Zehr, text (1) 315-771-9081, email zehrsloft@yahoo.com

We are looking forward to a great and challenging season. If you want your birds thoroughly tested, this is the race to be in. They are flown on the darkening system so they will all be equal feather wise and have equal chances.

Best of luck,

Linda & Oscar

Sep-25-2019

Hello everyone,

Congratulations to Richard Ridder and his whole family who were in attendance when their pigeon "Riel Glory" arrived on her own after 8 hours and 20 minutes of flying. This phenominal pigeon also won 1st Ace pigeon and was 1st or on 1st drop in all 4 races, just a fantastic performance !! Congratulations on all other day birds and even 2nd day birds, any bird that was on the day did an outstanding job and are certainly worth putting in your breeding loft in my opinion.

The race turned out a lot tougher than most expected. There were 3 combines/federations racing on the same day from same direction (not on our line) and they had very similar results as us with low speeds and limited day birds, many had no day birds and these were experienced, well conditioned pigeons that had been to many races already (near end of the season).

We will do an inventory tomorrow. From there we need to know who is interested in racing the 400 ? We would need to have at least somewhere around 30 pigeons entered to make a go of it. Many have already told me that they would like to get their bird(s) back. With that said, I will be at the Oshawa Gold Bond shipping Thursday evening Sep. 26th, if you are going there or want to meet me there I can take your bird(s) with us. For South Western Ontario, Nick Oud is coming here the weekend of Oct. 19th/20th and will take your bird(s) back with him for anyone further West. For the US pigeons, we will be mailing those out on Monday Oct. 14th. Some have told us they do not want their birds back. With those we have 2 options, we will donate those to beginners or we can race them in old birds in our club/combine. This has to be the breeders decision.

Please send us an email tomorrow after the inventory is up with what you would like to do. E-mail: dutchtoucholr@gmail.com

We would like to really thank everyone for their support this season, it has been a very difficult & stressful year to say the least. We will make some changes for next year and are counting on a much better 2020 season. We will post/advertise that in the near future.

Thank you,

Linda & Oscar
