TOSS #9 20 MILES We had another good toss from 25 miles today.  Birds had about 8 miles of headwind and handled it great.  I think the birds are ready to go Friday 30 miles.  I got good news today that Don has everything ready for the clock and is shipping it out in the morning.  Hit YouTube link for your trapping order from today.

8TH TOSS 20 MILES Today we had a good toss from 20 miles.  Almost every bird was home in the loft before we even made it back to the loft.  We left 2 birds home with leg or other injury and we know a couple skipped the trap so I will have to make an adjustment including adding 1 more pad.  We hope to have live clocking done by end of week so we can do daily updates.  When I left the loft I counted 75 birds so we had 6 or so skip the trap.  Here is the clicking order from todays toss.

TRAINING HAS STARTED! We had our 4th Trainer today from 15 miles.  Unfortunately we still don’t have our clock working with Wincompanion so I used my clock to enter the birds so you could see how they came in today.  Today was a beautiful sunny day with no winds.  We took the birds 15 miles and let 1st crate go,then the second, and then the 3rd.  Birds went up and joined and hurried back to see them come home.  Yesterday every bird beat me home but today after about 5 minutes after getting back to the loft 1 bird came home, then another from the east, and then I was just getting singles and getting really worried.  After about 25 minutes then came the biggest group of about 40 birds directly from the south.  I am not sure if they got locked up with some local trainers or what but they still looked great even though it took them longer.  We are still out some birds but I believe we will get them back because they have been coming so good.  If you would like to see how they scanned I will add link to the bottom.  After talking to Don today I am hoping to be on Wincompanion in a few more days.  He is getting everything loaded on the clock and then sending it out to me.  Thank You all it is sure fun working with these birds.

7-18-22 LOFT UPDATE Birds have been mostly locked down to allow them to moult and grow back in their 10th flights.  They have been let out to stretch a couple times a week but not pushed.  Today we started flagging and will continue to do so until we get them flying the way we like before we start training.  In the mean time while being locked down we dealt with are 1st real battle of sickness.  I think a bird in the last 20 birds we received must have been carrying something and it started sickness that we were pulling a couple birds a day for 2 weeks until we got it under control.  We pulled over 20 birds and lost a few of them so we Have wrote down who lost birds during this time and will give them a free perch next year since replacemEnt time has ended.  I believe we have them back to where they were and looking vibrant and healthy once again.  We still have not got are clock clicking figured out but just got a new computer to see if we can’t get it to work this week.  We will defiantly have it going before we start down the road.

WEEKLY UPDATE

We will be taking in birds until June 18th this year.  Birds have been doing great and going out flying daily.  We will be doing a hand inventory this weekend and any birds missing will have until June 18th to be replaced.  Birds overall health has been excellent and through the whole time of accepting birds only 3 birds have been pulled because they didn't look right.  We would still love to have you so if you haven't signed up please do so.  I understand everyone is behind on breeding so hopefully giving 2 more weeks will help some that haven't been able to send yet.  Please let us know if you have any questions.
