2018 Dehesa Trials in El Cajon, CA
Send to: Ron Moden – 6108 Dehesa Rd, El Cajon, CA 92019 619-994-1065
This is your INVITATION to the Dehesa Trials located at the home of Ron Moden in Cajon, CA. (on the east side of San Diego) His residence is within 20 minutes of all three San Diego races. The idea of the series is for you as breeders to test some of your birds on the same course that three San Diego races conduct their races each Thanksgiving week in November. The 2017 series enjoyed a lot of success and we anticipate the same thing here in 2018. There are two main changes/improvements to this 2018 series.
1. Wincompanion will be used this you so you can see live clocking
2. A larger trailer has been purchased for the comfort of the birds. These two things will greatly enhance the quality of the race for the birds and the breeders
About Ron Moden
Ron Moden has been flying birds for many years and has a lot of experience in the roller hobby as well. He is obviously not doing this for money but just to test the birds and since so many fly one or all of these OLRaces why not do it on this course? He has won the Holiday Cup at least 3 times. Ron and I have been partners on many races and thought this would be a good idea.
April 1-June 15 is the preferred acceptance time but if you have some earlier Ron will no doubt accept them. Many have sent youngsters from new mating wanting to see what they do or later hatches. Ron was very successful at settling the birds last year, including the older ones, due to the fact that he has a wide open area and has a nice net that he puts out to give the birds plenty of air and sight around the loft.
– Ron will do one of a couple things with the vaccination.
1. Vaccinate your birds upon receiving them and then three weeks later.
2. Complete your booster if you have vaccinated them once at 3 weeks like many breeders do. This needs to be communicated with Ron as to what you have done prior to sending your group of birds.
Training will parallel what the handlers are doing in the three local races so you can get a true read on your birds with the same course, same training and basically the same feed. The three races all train a little differently so the plan is to train along the average which is more like the SD Holiday Cup.
There will be a 100, 125, 175, 250, 300 & 350. Ron will have to be careful so as not to interfere with the three OLRaces in San Diego so he will for sure work around those.
The fee for handling the birds will be $60.00 per bird. If you send him 11 or more birds the fee drops to $50 per bird. You may send as many as you want but you should make approximate reservations with Ron.
Returning of Birds -- – Any and all birds will be returned at breeders expense.
